Frequently Asked Questions
Must I Buy All My Insurance Coverages From You?
We have found that competition benefits the consumer. No, you do not have to buy all your coverages from us, but we expect you will voluntarily do so when you compare us to all others.
Are Doctors and Nurses Covered?
At no additional cost, coverage is provided to the Centers for acts of ALL their employed or volunteer doctors or nurses unless such acts are excluded by the policy (i.e. prescribing drugs or performing surgical procedures).
Does the Policy Cover Ultrasounds During All Three Trimesters of Pregnancy?
Yes.
Does the Policy Require a Certain Level of Training for the People Performing Ultrasounds?
Guidelines for performing ultrasound are available through the American Institute of Ultrasound Medicine (AIUM), the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), the American College of Radiology (ACR) and the Association for Women’s Health, Obstetrical and Neonatal Nursing (AWHONN). All individuals performing scans should be trained appropriately and adhere to their respective guidelines. This would include MD’s, DO’s, RN’s, LVN’s, LPN’s, NP’s, and RDMS’.
Are there any policy deductibles?
One of the hidden costs of many Programs are policy deductibles, amounts you must pay on a claim before the insurance kicks in. Deductibles for General Liability, Professional Liability and Medical Malpractice routinely are set at $1,000/$2500 and more. D&O deductibles are $5000+. Property deductibles can be multiples of $1000.
We feel hidden costs are just that--hidden--and consequently have decided to minimize and eliminate almost all deductibles. A deductible of $0--that's right, no deductible--is charged on General Liability, Auto, Professional/Medical Malpractice and D&O. Property and Employment Practices deductibles are $500. There are no other deductibles in this Program.
How Do I Obtain Coverage?
Simply download the appropriate application, complete and fax to: Jeff Strahan at 1-214-979-6215. Quotes for all coverages should take approximately three (3)working days. If you wish to purchase coverage, just let us know at least two (2) working days before the effective date of your policy.
When Will I Receive My Policy?
One nationwide policy will be issued for all coverages other than D&O. Individual Centers will be added to the Policy by a Coverage Certificate. Coverages and limits apply per Certificate as if each Certificate holder were issued an individual policy. All Coverage certificates will expire on January 1. Your Certificate should be delivered to you within two weeks of the effective date. D&O policies will be issued individually to each Center and will take approximately 30 days for delivery.
Which Policy Covers Volunteer Board Members?
The Directors and Officers (D&O) policy is designed to protect your Board Members. Limits from $1,000,000 to $5,000,000 may be purchased. In addition, as a part of your D&O policy, we have included coverage for Employment Practices Liability. This coverage protects your Center from claims from your employees alleging discrimination, sexual harrassment and other similar issues.
Consumer Products Can Receive a "Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval." Is There a Rating Agency For Insurance Companies?
There are several insurance carrier rating agencies. The most widely utilized within the industry is A.M.Best. They rate carriers by size and stability. Size ratings start from I (the smallest) to XV (the largest). Stability ratings start at "NR" (Not Rated-generally reserved for new, small companies)to "A" (most stable). Since an insurance policy is a promise to pay in the future, both size and stability ratings are critical. Virtually all insurance carriers, including risk retention companies, are rated. The General Insurance Company of America is rated "A XV".
